We are not here to make kids aggressive. We are here to help them become more aware, respectful, confident, and prepared.
Our Kids Jiu-Jitsu program at Team Papakōlea Jiu-Jitsu provides a safe and positive environment where children can learn practical self-defense while developing skills that carry into everyday life. Students learn anti-bullying awareness, discipline, listening skills, confidence, and personal safety. We also emphasize old-school martial arts etiquette—respect for coaches, training partners, and themselves. The minimum age is generally 5 years old.
Classes combine age-appropriate Jiu-Jitsu techniques with structured instruction focused on self-defense, awareness, and responsible decision-making. Kids learn how to stay calm under pressure, listen and follow directions, recognize potentially unsafe situations, and respond appropriately. Through consistent training, they develop coordination, discipline, confidence, and respect while learning that martial arts should be used for protection—not aggression.
Give your child the opportunity to build confidence, discipline, awareness, and practical self-defense skills in a supportive environment. At Team Papakōlea Jiu-Jitsu, we teach kids to carry themselves with respect, practice good etiquette, look out for their safety, and stand up to bullying without becoming a bully themselves. Our goal is to help each student become more confident, capable, respectful, and prepared both on and off the mats.
Kids have opportunities to train both Gi and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu as part of their development. Each format helps students build coordination, awareness, confidence, discipline, and practical self-defense skills while learning how to train safely and respectfully with others.
